More Sigma DP1 Hands-Ons

And the Sigma DP1 reviews just keep coming. And the good thing is, these hands-on reviews are in English.
Both hands-ons were based on pre-production models from the Focus on Imaging 2008 tradeshow that’s currently on-going.
Sigma DP-1 Review from geextreme.com
And a Sigma DP-1 Hands-on from the Ricoh GR - Diary.
And the interesting thing is, both hands-ons offer us two different conclusions. Although the second link focuses more on the handling and physical aspects of the DP-1 and comparing it with the the Ricoh GRs and it doesn’t discuss any of the image quality at all.

While the comparison with the GRs - build wise - is interesting and could be a major factor for some ; I am personally impressed with the quality of the images.
The menu and write time speeds could be issues for some people, albeit fairly minor ones I think - but hopefully it will be improved - the DP1’s on display at Focus on Imaging are pre-production models after all.
Cheers,
Josh

Poor Adrian, such a predictable GR-D user reaction…can’t handle facts and resorts to his most intellectual come back

What a pity the guy at the Ricoh GR Diary didnt get some images to look at ánd then try to tell us that the GR is better. His camera speed and build quality comments are in direct opposition to all the reviews I’ve read. At least we dont have to take his word on the image quality - the DP1 at around 800ISO matches the GR at 100 - which it should do!
Maybe Ricoh will now recant their sorry statement that a GR size camera cannot work with an APS sensor!
